This is the kind of light I seek. Amazing.
Taken next to the Wupatki Visitor Center, looking out over the Painted Desert. Zoom in and you can see several layers of buttes, some lit up by breaks in the cloud cover. The Little Colorado River flows in the valley below but is not visible from here.
